Prior to the debut of the Seiko Super (SUWA) and Seiko Unique (DAINI), all Seiko watches had a small-second hand, hence a separate mini-movement within the main movement that powered the second hand. It seems a separate second hand was considered a much simpler and more effective system than to incorporate the second hand into the main movement. But that all changed circa 1950 when Seiko launched the Seiko Super (SUWA) and Seiko Unique (DAINI).

The gorgeous Seiko Super, 15 Jewel Mechanical Watch was eons ahead of its competitors when launched. It features an anti-shock system to help alleviate any jarring effect to the balance wheel and main spring. Furthermore, the Seiko Super is also the first SUWA to incorporate actual 14K gold-filled indices onto the dial instead of the traditional method of painting the numberings (onto the dial).

For Seiko Collectors and Vintage fans, this is a SUWA Seiko Seikosha in near mint condition. It is a Collectible for certain!

This very rare circa 1959 Vintage Seiko has a white dial that has gracefully aged to a buttery-beige-white that marries beautifully with the 14K gold-filled Arabic numeral and baton indices and dauphine hands.

These gold-filled Indices and hands are also in immaculate condition with no signs of age after a good clean-up, and the crystal glass is also in excellent condition albeit miniscule scratches do remain.

The classical designed 2 tone case (gold bezel / silver case) was polished but do note that miniscule hairline scratches on case, back case, and crystal, may be present. Its back case is constructed from stainless steel and is in near mint condition after a good polish.

The crown is located at the traditional 3H positions and tucked away nicely to prevent damage or snags. The Seiko signed crown is not disproportionally oversized as previous models.

The movement was carefully cleaned, and a basic servicing was conducted on the 14 July 2026; hence, it should be able to operate unhindered until the next servicing thereby providing the owner a peace of mind.

Equipped with the excellent and evergreen Seikosha copper beryllium and stainless-steel movement, it has 15 Jewels that operate at 18,000 BPH. The timing shows approximately 10 seconds deviation daily which is well within the required 30 second requirements for brand new modern automatic watch standards.

The case width and height are approximately 30.9mm (without crown) and 37.4mm respectively. The lug width is 16mm, and the strap can accommodate wrists up to 17cm; hence, this watch is suitable for men and the women.
